Grand Cayman - Feb 8, 2014

Normally, there are 6-7 cruise ships docking at Grand Cayman. We were lucky to be the only ship docking on this particular day which allowed us to enjoy the island and attraction spots without crowd. Originally we were thinking about renting scooters from Cayman Auto Rentals for $35/day per scooter for touring the island.  However, we were worrying about the unfamiliarity of the roads and directions on the island and we gave up the idea.  For the future record, the contact info for Cayman Auto Rental is Tel# 345-949-1013. It is located approximately 3 city blocks from the Loyal Watler Cruise Terminal on N. Church St.

Since Coral Princess was the only ship docking on that day, we were able to negotiate a local tour to take us for visiting Seven Miles Beach, Dolphin Discovery, Boatswain Turtle Farm, a Tortuga store and the Hell.  The guide drove us around the Georgetown area pointing out different attractions such as resorts, banks, city facilities, and the Grand Beach Suites where the film 'Firm' was filmed. Grand Cayman is well developed commercially, and the guide jokily told us that the national flower for Cayman is the satellite dish.

The 1st stop is the Dolphin Discovery.  We saw people playing and riding the dolphins.  Due to the time constraint, we only watch it without participating.

He also took us to sample and shop the famous rum cake.

We did spend enough time in the Turtle Farm, we picked-up some turtles for Kodak moment.

The Hell is just like we what we visited more than 10 years ago but it seemed like that it got smaller.

We were able to stay at the famous Seven Miles Beach for about 2 hours.  We did some swimming but mostly playing on the beach.  The sand and the water were wonderful. We also did some snorkeling but did not see much interesting stuff under the water at the beach.  The wave was definitely bigger than the one we ever experienced in Galveston.  We had fun!
